How we were born

 The Charitable Foundation "New Beginning" is a non-profit charitable organization created to provide a wide range of assistance to vulnerable populations in difficult life circumstances, as well as to support initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development of the community.

In 2003, God sent key people into the lives of Ihor and Oleksandra Matviyuk – Dale and Janice Marcum. They were part of the Airo Ministries (USA) team, who at that time were working among the Roma population and conducting medical aid campaigns. Ihor was invited to interpret during these missions because he had a sufficient level of English and good relations with brothers and sisters from Roma Christian communities, and understood the daily life and way of life of the Roma. In parallel, during 2003, Ihor and Oleksandra Matviyuk served as volunteers with children in boarding schools and other places where there were young people who were boarding school graduates. In the early 2000s, boarding school graduates faced a very difficult task – to leave the system and adapt to a new life for themselves.

Difficult questions arose before them. Where will I live? What will I eat? Where can I find work? Who will help me? We prayed and sought God's guidance. We shared this with Dale and Janice, with people from their team, with people in the Church. Then people came together with a single goal – to help children on a volunteer basis… But this proved to be insufficient; each time we were asked who we were and what right we had to represent the interests of these young people… Great rivers are gathered from small streams! The idea arose to call leaders of religious Christian communities from different denominations, so that these communities could be the ones to provide spiritual support to children leaving boarding schools for independent life. Ihor and Oleksandra prayed and received a clear vision of whom and how to help.

In prayer, they received the name for the foundation "New Beginning" from the Book of Revelation 21:5 – "And He who sits on the throne said, 'Behold, I make all things new.' And He said, 'Write, for these words are true and faithful.'"

Then Ihor and Oleksandra Matviyuk called the leaders of the Reformed, Methodist, and Evangelical Churches and registered the CF "New Beginning" on February 4, 2004. With the support of partners – DorCas International (Netherlands), the Christian organization Airo Ministries (USA), and the British organization "ChildAid" – we launched projects that you can read about in the "Our Projects" section. Over time, only Ihor and Oleksandra remained as the founders of the foundation. But various Christian communities and charitable organizations continue to support the activities of the CF "New Beginning" to this day.
